….or welcome back. It’s been a while. I’ve taken one what might call a bit of a hiatus from blog posting over the past few years. It’s not that I haven’t wanted to post. It’s just that life sometimes gets in the way. It took a solid two days for me to remember my login information so that I could actually post something. And then, of course, once I got on and realized how dated my blog looked (this particular blog was created circa 2009…a decade ago), I decided it needed a few updates. What originally started as an attempt to delete the green damask background that framed my images (my daughter told me it was, like, so outdated) led to a full-on overhaul of the blog, which led to somewhat of an overhaul of the website as well. It’s still a tremendous work in progress, mostly because I’m apparently not as tech-savvy as I thought I was, so it will continue to be a work in progress for a while. While I wait for the perfect website to magically produce itself, I decided that it was time to go ahead and turn this thing back on.
If you have not been following me on Instagram or Facebook (if you don’t, then you should!), then you will know that I am still very much in the photography business (despite my absence here). I am also a mom to two very busy teenagers (who don’t drive yet…only one more year!), one of whom I homeschool. I spend a significant amount of time traveling with my daughter to out-of-state horse shows. In addition that that, I have recently added a second job as a consultant for Etcetera, which is a New York-based clothing line that I absolutely adore (have I mentioned that horse back riding is not cheap?). Life is busy….often quite chaotic….in the Swanner household. Nonetheless, my intention for this blog is not only to share images of all of the beautiful children and families I photograph, but also to share other things of interest (travel, recipes, etc.). Perhaps, also, I may use this a little selfishly as a sounding board for my thoughts about life, motherhood, etc. Hopefully, you will find something here to bring you back!
Since my last several years have been so heavily involved in the equestrian world, my “horse sessions” have become some of my favorites. There is something so incredibly special about the bond between a girl (or boy) and her horse. I’ve been so lucky to see this relationship between my own daughter and her horse. It is always such a pleasure to capture that same bond for other people. Since this is such a huge part of my world right now, I thought it only fitting that I share some of these images with you as my first blog post “back”. In addition, I am now scheduling equestrian sessions for the spring and summer. I can do them on either an individual basis or on a group basis. If this is something you (or your barn) are interested in, please contact me as the pricing for these varies a bit depending on how many I schedule for one day.
