I realize that yet again, it’s been a while since I’ve posted. Things have been beyond crazy here. This time of year is most definitely a juggling act between my busy fall work schedule and my kids’ 5000 after-school activities….and homework, homework, and more homework. Oh, yes, and building a house…that takes a little bit of time. There’s not a whole lot of down time around here…in fact, there’s pretty much none.
However, tonight, I’m stopping because I’ve had this family on my mind pretty much every waking hour for the past 10 days. If you’ve followed my blog for any amount of time, you most likely recognize these faces. Not only have I been fortunate enough to photograph them for about 7 or 8 years now, I’ve known Chris and Julianne for about 18 years. Chris and Julianne were in my husband’s med-school class and were the very first “couple friends” that my husband and I had. We have traveled all over with them and have remained close even though we no longer live in the same town. This family is VERY special to us, and we love them dearly. Ten days ago, Chris informed us that Julianne had been diagnosed with advanced stage breast cancer, and needless to say, we are devastated. However, we know that hope is not lost. While I know that difficult days lie ahead of them, I also know that Julianne is a fighter and is one of the strongest people I know. I have no doubt that she will kick this thing in the butt. I also know that there are so many people who love this family and who are praying every day for them…..and I believe strongly in the power of prayer. And I know that Chris and Julianne have a love like very few people get to experience….and I believe that their adoration for each other is going to keep them going during this difficult time. So on this eve of Breast Cancer Awareness month, I ask that you lift them up in prayer….as well as the many others out there who are suffering with breast cancer. Women, do your exams….and don’t be afraid to have a mammogram.
Since Chris and Julianne are such great friends, they often get the short end of the stick when it comes to having their pictures made…..meaning that we work in a session last minute before Christmas. This year, we got ahead of the game and took their pictures while we were at the beach this summer. I’m so thankful that we did….one less thing for her to have to think about while she goes through treatment this fall. What an incredibly beautiful family they are and always will be. We love you Julianne. You are in our thoughts and prayers always.
